Crossville Fire & Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 800 block of Cook Road on Thursday (5-16-2024) shortly before 5pm. Crews arrived to find a fire on the porch. Crossville Police Department officers had arrived and suppressed the fire with a handheld fire extinguisher. Fire crews extinguished the blaze which caused $1,500 estimated damage. The cause of the fire is believed to be discarded smoking materials. Fire Chief South urges everyone to be cautious when discarding smoking materials. Please make sure they are fully extinguished and not near combustible materials.
