Officials have released the name of the deceased in Tuesday’s (12/31/2024) officer-involved shooting in Hamilton County.
The individual has been identified as 41-year-old James Junior Holder.
At the request of 11th Judicial District Attorney General Coty Wamp, TBI agents are investigating the circumstances leading to the fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred just after midnight Tuesday.
Preliminary information indicates that deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop of a motorcycle driver on McCutcheon Road. From early reports from the scene, during contact with deputies, the driver, now identified as James Junior Holder, produced what appeared to be a weapon. For reasons that remain under investigation, deputies fired their service weapons, striking the Holder. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No officers were injured during the incident.
