Cumberland County Commission To Hold Special Called Meeting April 1, 2022 To Fill General Sessions Court Judge Vacancy

By Ronni Chase Mar 29, 2022 | 9:45 AM

The Cumberland County Clerk declared a vacant seat in the office of Cumberland County General Sessions Court Judge effective Monday, March 21, 2022.  The Cumberland County Commission urges all interested and qualified attorneys, licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee and residing in Cumberland County, to offer their names as candidates for the vacancy to Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster by March 30, 2022, at noon.  A cover letter is suggested, but not required, to be submitted at that time. Those unable to notify the County Mayor’s Office may also be considered at the Friday, April 1, 2022, Special Called Meeting of the full County Commission.

All potential candidates seeking to fill the vacancy will be given an opportunity to address the Commission at the meeting to be held Friday, April 1, 2022, at 3:00 o’clock P.M. in the large meeting room at the old courthouse located at 2 North Main Street, Crossville, Tennessee, 38555. If a candidate wishes to be considered, but cannot attend the meeting, a commissioner can still nominate said candidate so long as the candidate has provided written proof of their willingness to serve. At that time, the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners will appoint someone from the names submitted to serve as a successor until another General Sessions Judge is sworn into office as a result of the next election to be held in August 2022.
