A proposed natural gas pipeline would run through Cumberland County and several other surrounding counties.  WVLT reports Canadian based energy company, Enbridge, recently held an open house at Wartburg Central High School in Morgan County to go over details of a proposed 125-mile pipeline what would cut through Middle and East Tennessee.  It would begin in Trousdale County in Middle Tennessee and make its way through Fentress, Cumberland and Morgan Counties before ending in Roane County.  According to WVLT, 25-miles of pipeline would run through Morgan County, impacting 374 landowners there.  The proposed pipeline will only come to fruition if TVA decides to close the Kingston coal plant and chooses natural gas as their new energy source instead of solar power, or a combination of the two. TVA said they won’t make that decision until 2023.
