A man charged with murder who failed to appear on the last day of his trial in Roane County has been captured this week in Illinois. Christopher Lee Kennedy was apprehended by the U.S. Marshal’s Service on Wednesday. Kennedy was found guilty of First-Degree Murder on July 15, 2022 in Roane County Criminal Court. He is now being held without bond pending a sentencing hearing. Both Christopher Lee Kennedy and his wife Evelyn Denise Kennedy were convicted of felony murder in the 2019 death of Evelyn’s 72-year-old aunt, Betty Crews. Evelyn Kennedy has been sentenced to life in prison.
