Two people are dead after a shooting at Uplands Village in Pleasant Hill early this morning.
Uplands Village released the following statement on their Facebook page:
We are saddened to learn that a resident of Uplands Village, who moved in a week ago to our memory care assisted living neighborhood has suffered injuries from her husband resulting in her death and his suicide on our campus in the early morning hours of September 26, 2022.
We grieve this loss and extend our deepest condolences to family and friends. The safety of our residents is our first concern. We take all matters of this nature seriously.
When we were notified of the incident, we contacted the Cumberland County Sherriff’s Office who is handling the investigation. We are currently looking into counseling for residents and staff and are committed to doing everything we can do to support them at this time.

On September 26, 2022 at approximately 7:58 AM, Cumberland County deputies responded to a Main Street, Pleasant Hill address on a call of two people deceased from gunshot wounds. Preliminary investigation suggests a murder / suicide. Identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. There is no risk to the community. The investigation is ongoing and additional releases will be forthcoming.
