Each year the Cumberland County Soil Conservation District awards a $300.00 Holder-Bush Memorial Scholarship to honor Elmer Holder and Chester Bush. These two men together contributed 51 years of service to conservation in Cumberland County.
The scholarship is awarded to a Cumberland County student who will be or is currently attending Tennessee Technological University and majoring in some field of Agriculture. This year the District Board awarded six (6) scholarships.
The first recipient is Keely Frazier. She is the daughter of Jon & Jennifer Frazier. She is majoring in Pre-Veterinary Sciences.
Second is Kallie Hale who is majoring in Agribusiness. She is the daughter of Allen & Toni Hale.
Third scholarship recipient is Sophie Helton. Sophie is the daughter of Robert & Sandy Helton, and her major is Agriculture Communications.
The fourth and fifth recipients are Abbigail Miller, an Agriculture Education, and Agribusiness major Maggie Miller. They are the daughters Zack and Cory Miller.
Kayla Selby is the sixth recipient. She is the daughter of Bryan & Rhonda Selby, and her major is Agriculture Engineering.
