Crossville Police Dept. PRESS RELEASE – For immediate release

CROSSVILLE, TN – On Thursday, April 13, 2023 at approximately 12:50 pm Cumberland County
High School (Tennessee) administrators were notified of a student that was potentially
in possession of a gun on campus. The C.C.H.S. campus was immediately placed on
“hard lock down”. The School Resource Officer made contact with the suspected
student within five minutes of the initial report. The student was detained and the
weapon, which was found to be unloaded, was secured by the SRO. The lockdown of
the school has since been lifted.
The school system will continue to work with local law enforcement and EMA partners
to provide safe schools in Cumberland County.
