One Dead, K-9 Shot In Officer-Involved Shooting In Sevierville Friday Night

TBI special agents continue to investigate Friday night’s officer-involved shooting in East Tennessee that left one person dead and a K-9 shot.  Around 8:15 p.m. Friday (5/12/23), officers with the Sevierville Police Department and the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office went to a home on Holly Drive in Sevierville, to follow up on an incident involving a felony evading by vehicle. When officers approached the residence, someone inside shot at them and there was an exchange of gunfire. One person was found deceased inside the residence. Another individual sustained injuries. Two sheriff’s deputies and one city officer recieved minor non-gunshot-related injuries.  A police K9 was shot and transported to an area veterinary hospital.  WVLT reports K9 Hank underwent surgery, which went well, and the dog is now resting with his partner.
