A medical flight crew from the Tennessee Army National Guard performed an emergency air evacuation mission for a hiker at Cumberland Gap National Historic Park Wednesday morning (6/28/23). They were notified shortly after 10 a.m., eastern time that a 22-year-old hiker had suffered head trauma while on a remote hiking trail just north of the Tennessee border in Virginia. With the assistance of Park Rangers, the flight paramedics lifted the victim into a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter and flew to UT Medical Center. The Tennessee Army National Guard reports the entire rescue mission took less than an hour and a half. (Photos submitted)
