The Algood Police Department responded to a group home Monday morning (7/3/2023) after a person with intellectual difficulties was reported missing. According to a press release, APD requested assistance from the Putman County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and Drone Units due to the semi-rural search area. A drone was able to locate the missing person in the swamp adjacent to Highway 111. She was too far out to reach safely; therefore, the Putnam County Rescue Squad was notified, and they responded with their water rescue team. She was safely extracted from the swamp and EMS on scene provided warming blankets and triage and she was transported to Cookeville Regional Hospital for examination.
