Cumberland County is one of a dozen counties in Tennessee that will benefit from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which provides $1.4 billion for 70 rail improvement projects across the nation.
On Tuesday, the Biden administration announced $31 million in funding for railroad projects across the Volunteer State.
The Tennessee Short Line Railroads Bridge Bundle Project will put more than $23.7 million into 42 bridges along 10 different short line railroads in need of immediate, extensive repair or replacement. The bridges are in the following Tennessee counties: Cumberland, Davidson, Dyer, Gibson, Knox, Madison, Marion, Montgomery, Obion, Putnam, Roane, and Smith.
An additional $7.3 million will help fund the TennKen Revitalization and Safety Improvement Project, which involves track improvements on the mail rail line in Tennessee and Kentucky.
