Lenoir City Shooting Suspect Arrested Monday

A man who allegedly shot his wife Friday morning in Lenoir City was captured Monday in Powell, Tennessee.  James Burch reportedly shot his wife twice in the legs, left the home and came back and shot her in the face. His wife managed to drive herself to UT Medical Center Friday where she was in stable condition.  Police immediately began to search for Burch who was considered armed and dangerous.  According to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Burch was apprehended shortly after 1pm Monday with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force.

Burch has been transported to Loudon County Detention Center and is being charged with the following:

-Attempted 1st Degree Murder

-Especially Aggravated Kidnapping

-Aggravated Domestic Assault

-Violation of Bond Conditions

Burch is being held without bond and additional charges are pending.

Another man was with Burch when he was apprehended and authorities say he was being held for questioning with possible charges pending.
