By Peg Broadcasting News Nov 15, 2023 | 12:04 PM

The Crossville/Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency says emergency crews are working a fire with multiple structures involved on Renegade Mountain. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area. Temporary shelters for residents have been established at Crab Orchard City Hall and Crab Orchard Christian Church.

At approximately 9:46am (11/15/23), the Cumberland County Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Moytoy Road for a brush fire that started by unknown means. Fire crews arrived on-scene and found 2 multi-family condos on fire along with a large brush fire. Multiple other condos were endangered by fire.  Mutual-aid was requested by Crossville Fire and State Forestry.  Cumberland County EMA, EMS and Sheriff’s Office quickly assisted in evacuating Moytoy Road and surrounding areas.

At this time (Noon 11/15/23) containment on the fire is minimal and several structures are still in danger.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area of Renegade Mountain and be on the alert for first responders going to and from the scene on Highway 70 and I-40.
