Congressman Chuck Fleischmann is urging everyone to mail your packages and letters early to avoid delays. This comes after his office had to contact the United States Postal Service to address soggy packages in Soddy Daisy. For well over a month, residents have complained they are not getting their mail. Then pallets of packages began piling up outside of the post office, many ruined in the rain. It seems the Soddy Daisy Post Office was already understaffed and then became overwhelmed with the increase in holiday packages. Representative Fleischmann said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (12/5/2023) that the Postal Service “will move in staff on an interim basis to help get mail delivery in the Soddy Daisy area back on track.” Fleischmann says such delays are happening across the nation and are not the fault of the hard working local mail carriers and postal workers. He urges everyone to treat their delivery persons with kindness and mail your packages as early as possible.
