The Cumberland Plateau Water Authority met in regular session on Monday and discussed several topics including the hiring of a general manager as well as a consultant. The authority will come back for their January meeting with a job description and a scope of work for both positions. Later in the meeting two board members noted the success of the authority will hinge largely on the willingness of the City of Crossville to join. Crossville is the largest supplier of water in the county and would require much planning in order to make the transition. As of now, the Crossville City Council has not discussed any merger with the authority, however, city staff recently appeared before the board to outline some of the many obstacles that would need to be overcome. The authority will meet again on January 8, 2024.
