No injuries were reported due to an early morning fire at the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex. According to a post on the Piney Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page, the mutual aid call from the Pikeville Fire Department went out around 6 o’clock Sunday morning of a small structure fire on prison property. The outbuilding was near other structures and fully engulfed. Firefighting efforts were hampered by the extremely cold weather as their gear froze in the five below zero temperatures. PVFD says the storage building at the Bledsoe County prison was completely destroyed. The property owners reported they had a heating stove in the building for some goats. All animals escaped and no people were injured.
