Escaped Putnam County Inmate Apprehended

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says escaped inmate, Jack Janes, has been apprehended and is now back in custody in the Putnam County Jail. According to Sheriff Eddie Farris, Janes escaped Friday through a plumbing door that was accidentally left unlocked.

Janes, who is being held on several charges is also a convicted Felon and Sex Offender.

Sheriff Farris said, “Anytime an inmate escapes, we obviously have made a mistake in order for that to happen of which is unacceptable and is currently being addressed.”

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Janes now has an additional charge of Escape, which could carry an additional jail time of up to 6 years for the Class E Felony based on Janes’ criminal history.  In addition to Janes escape charges, at least two other individuals have been charged in connection for assisting Janes and others are likely as the investigation continues.
