Crossville Police, Fire Department Respond to Early Morning Explosion and Fire at Elite Market on Hwy 127 N.

Crossville Police responded to an explosion and fire early Monday morning at the Elite Market on Highway 127 North.  It happened around 12:30am.  Upon arrival, police say the Crossville Fire Department had extinguished a fire in the parking lot near the dumpster, propane tank and car wash.  Scott Hyder, age 28, of Crossville was found inside the car wash. Hyder said he didn’t know if he set the fire or not. According to reports, surveillance video showed Mr. Hyder throwing items into a pile and setting them on fire.  Mr. Hyder could not answer simple questions and requested to go to the hospital.  He was transported to the ER and issued a misdemeanor citation in lieu of arrest for Reckless Burning.
