Brother and Girlfriend of Suspect Charged With Fatally Shooting Blount County Deputy Arrested, Search Continues for Kenneth Wayne DeHart

The brother of a man charged with fatally shooting a Blount County Deputy and wounding another deputy has been arrested.  Marcus Erving DeHart, age 41, was taken into custody Friday and charged with accessory after the fact. He was placed in the Blount County Jail on a $1 million bond and is due in General Sessions court on Monday, February 12, 2024.

Kenneth DeHart’s girlfriend, 32-year-old Carrie Mathews, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact.

As of 7:30 pm Friday, February 09, 2024 the manhunt continues for 42-year-old Kenneth Wayne DeHart, Jr. and he has been added to the TBI’s Most Wanted list.  Kenneth DeHart has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder, one count of Attempted First Degree Murder, and one count of Felon in Possession of a Weapon.

Kenneth DeHart is considered armed and dangerous.  The Blount County Sheriff’s Office says the reward for information leading to the arrest of Kenneth Wayne Dehart is now $80,000.
