Tennessee Blue Alert Issued After Blount County Deputy Fatally Shot, Another Deputy Injured

A Tennessee Blue Alert was issued early Friday morning for the suspect accused of fatally shooting a Blount County Deputy and injured another during a traffic stop Thursday night.

WVLT reports that Deputy Greg McCowan was killed. Deputy Shelby Eggers was injured in the shooting but has since been released from the hospital to recover at home.

The suspect, 42-year-old Kenneth Wayne DeHart Jr., reportedly drove away from the scene.

TBI agents obtained warrants charging Kenneth DeHart with one count of First Degree Murder, one count of Attempted First Degree Murder, and one count of Felon in Possession of a Weapon. DeHart was added to the TBI Most Wanted list. (Photo courtesy TBI)
