Firearm Discharged Near TTU in Cookeville Tuesday, Road Rage Incident Ends in Arrest

Cookeville Police responded Tuesday night to a report of a firearm being discharged near Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. According to the Press Release, at approximately 6:38 PM (2/13/24) Officers were dispatched to the area of 7th Street and North Walnut Avenue where they found that a bullet had traveled through a window of a nearby business.  Although the business was open at the time and there were customers and employees inside, no one was injured.

A person of interest was located by police at the Marc L. Burnett Student Recreation and Fitness Center. While the investigation is still active and ongoing, investigators were able to determine that the firearm was intentionally fired at the business as a result of a road rage incident. With that information, Chaz Colton Miller, age 30, of Cookeville, was charged with 10 counts of Reckless Endangerment, a class C Felony, and was being held on a $150,000 bond.
