The Nashville Metro Police Department will no longer automatically disqualify officers with HIV from joining the force.
This comes after a federal discrimination lawsuit was filed in 2023 by a former Memphis Police officer who claimed the Nashville PD rescinded a job offer years earlier after they found out he was HIV positive.
Nashville reportedly settled the suit for $145,000 and agreed to amend its charter for police officer candidates.
