An investigation by the TBI and the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in a New Tazewell man being charged with killing his wife.
According to a TBI press release, 49-year-old Lori Ann Hopson was found deceased outside of a vehicle in the 500 block of Barren Creek Road in New Tazewell. Lori Hopson, who worked for the Claiborne County jail, had been stabbed multiple times in the chest. Her throat had also been cut. Authorities determined that her husband, 37-year-old Benjamin Wayne Hopson, was the individual responsible for her death.
Ben Hopson has been charged with Criminal Homicide. He was served in the Claiborne County Jail, where he was already being held on other charges. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond.
