According to WGFX, on April 30 in Nashville during a media session before the Big Orange Caravan, it was announced that Bob Kesling, longtime “Voice of the Vols”, has been elected into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame. The announcement was made live on Nashville’s 104.5 The Zone (WGFX) by the voice of the Tennessee Titans and Vol Network alum Mike Keith. Bob has been the radio voice of University of Tennessee football, men’s basketball and the host of “Vol Calls” and UT coaches TV shows since 1999. Prior to that, he fulfilled many other network roles and was the voice of the Lady Vols basketball from 1977 until he took his current role. A multiple-year winner of the sportscaster of the year in Tennessee, he is the longest serving member in the 75-year history of the Vol Network. Tuesday’s announcement was a heartwarming turnabout, as it was Bob, a Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame board member, who surprised Mike with the news of his election into the Tennessee Radio Hall of fame just a few years ago in 2020.
