3.8 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Northwest TN Early Thursday Morning

A 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook Northwest Tennessee shortly after 3 o’clock Thursday morning (5/16/2024).

The quake hit near Ridgely and officials in Dyersburg did not immediately report any injuries or damage.

It was reportedly felt as far south as Memphis and as far north as Carbondale, Illinois.

According to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the New Madrid Seismic Zone, which includes Dyersburg, is the most active earthquake zone east of Rocky Mountains.
