By Peg Broadcasting News May 23, 2024 | 3:38 PM

Volunteer Energy Cooperative (VEC) has recently received a high volume of phone scam reports in which the scam callers are aggressive and threaten to disconnect electricity if the VEC member does not give payment information or does not pay through gift cards.

These are fraudulent calls, and if you receive them, hang up and contact your local VEC service center to verify the status of your account. The fraudulent numbers the scammers are calling from have an “865” area code.

Remember, Volutneer Energy Cooperative will never call threatening disconnect or demanding an immediate payment.
