Cumberland County Rescue Squad and Multiple Agencies Extract Injured Ozone Falls Hiker Tuesday

The Cumberland County Rescue Squad was called to Ozone Falls around 4pm Tuesday (5/28/2024) for an injured hiker at the bottom of the falls.

Cumberland County Rescue Squad First Lieutenant Dustin Burgess reports the hiker received significant injuries to the leg.  EMS, Rescue Squad, Crossville Fire and Cumberland County Fire made way to the patient to assess injuries.  Extraction was needed by multiple low-angle rope systems.

First Lieutenant Burgess says agencies all worked together getting equipment and personnel on the trail and getting rope systems operational.

The injured hiker was stabilized for extraction and removed from the trail and placed in EMS/Life Force 1 care around 6pm.

Agencies assisting with operations but not limited to:

Cumberland County EMA, Cumberland County EMS, Cumberland County Fire Department, Crossville Fire Department, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, THP and Life Force 1.
