The Tennessee National Guard conducted two rescue missions in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Friday.
A hiker suffering from respiratory issues was airlifted along with their wife from a remote area near Mount LeConte Lodge just after 4pm Friday. The hiker was taken to UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
Around 7:30pm, the Tennessee National Guard was alerted of another hiker in possible cardiac distress near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park along the Alum Cave Trails. The hiker was hoisted onto the aircraft shortly before 8:45 pm and arrived at UT Medical Center just after 9pm.
