In his Mayor’s Notes, County Mayor Allen Foster reports that all were in attendance for Monday’s (6/17/2024) monthly County Commission meeting except Commissioners Charles Seiber and John Patterson.  With Commissioner Dewey Walker’s resignation from his 1st District seat, the commission now has 17 members for purpose of a quorum, with nine being required to pass a resolution.  Mayor Foster says this will remain in place until Wiley Potter is sworn in after the upcoming August elections as Mr. Potter was the only individual to qualify to run for the open seat. Mr. Potter is a lifelong resident and served as a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy and an Animal Control Officer before retiring.

Mayor Foster also informed the Commission that he has reappointed Steve Stone as a board member for Middle Tennessee Natural Gas.

County Commissioners unanimously voted to appoint Kaye Randolph to a second term of three years on the Cumberland County Library Board, and Jim Oswald and Dinah Goodwin were appointed for a first term of three years.
