Starting July 1, 2024 Tennessee Inmates No Longer Get Time Off For Good Behavior

Effective July 1, 2024, inmates in Tennessee will no longer get time off their sentences for good behavior.  The new Inmate Sentencing law ensures that an inmate’s actual sentence could not be reduced with good-time credits. The Tennessee Department of Correction can issue good-time credits for inmates, but the bill clarifies that these credits can only be used toward release eligibility, and not towards reduction of the actual sentence.
