The shooter is also dead.  The FBI identified him as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

Cumberland County Sheriff Casey Cox posted to Facebook, “Please join me in prayer for the victim who lost their life, President Trump,  and those that were injured this evening.  No matter your political stance or views, acts of violence towards others are wrong and completely unacceptable. Thank you to the Secret Service, law enforcement officers and first responders for their rapid response to this evil act.  May God Bless America.”

Tennessee lawmakers also took to social media to ask for prayers and offer condolences.

Senator Paul Bailey posted on his Facebook page, “Amy and I are deeply troubled by the heinous act at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania. We are relieved to hear that President Donald J. Trump is safe, and our thoughts are with him and the injured victims during this time. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the US Secret Service and first responders for their prompt and dedicated response.”

Congressman John Rose posted to X, “Let’s be grateful that President Trump is now safe. The Secret Service promptly stepped in to protect him. As we learn more, let’s pray for the 45th President of the United States.”
