A strong thunderstorm caused flash flooding at Dollywood on Sunday (7/28/2024) and at least one minor injury. Guests took numerous videos showing fast moving water and flooding inside the theme park. One gift shop appeared to have an inch of water inside. The parking lot was also flooded with videos of people walking in knee deep water to get to their vehicles. Some cars were flooded. The roads leading to the park were also closed.
Dollywood said on its website that cleanup crews have been deployed. The park currently is scheduled to open at noon on Monday, July 29. Dollywood’s Splash Country is not affected and will open at its regularly scheduled time. Park officials will continue to assess conditions and updates will be posted to Dollywood’s social media pages as additional information becomes available.
The Sevier County Emergency Management Agency reported numerous roads closed due to flooding, downed trees, and mudslides. A portion of one road collapsed and a sinkhole formed in another.
