SWAT TEAM PLACES BARRICADED SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

Fairfield Glade, TN- On Sunday, July 28, 2024, Fairfield Glade Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 300 Block of Lakeview Drive for a physical domestic. Upon arrival officers made contact with the victim outside the residence. The victim stated the assailant, Michael Turner, 45, was still inside the residence and had access to weapons. The Fairfield Glade Police Department and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office made multiple negotiation attempts to make contact, but were unable to do so. Due to Turner’s history of violence and barricading himself within the residence the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Crossville Police Department SWAT teams were deployed and made entry into the house. Turner was placed into custody without further incident, transported to Cumberland County Medical Center for evaluation, and placed into custody for Aggravated Domestic Assault. The victim was transported from the scene by EMS to be treated for injuries sustained from the assault.
Chief Self would like to extend her appreciation to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Crossville Police Department, and Cumberland County EMS for assistance in the apprehension without injury to the suspect or officers on scene.
