Former Algood Public Works Director, Victor Everett Jones, appeared in Putnam County Criminal Court on Thursday (August 8, 2024) where he entered a guilty plea to Three (3) counts of Rape of a Child.
According to a press release by 13th Judicial District Attorney General Bryant C. Dunaway, the offenses occurred at the home of Victor Jones and the child was less than 13 years of age.
Jones, age 63, was sentenced to serve 15 years in the the custody of the Department of Corrections, to be served at 100%. He will also be listed on the sex offender registry.
District Attorney General Dunaway said the victim showed great courage to come forward and put a stop to Jones’ behavior.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jessica Krebs, a member of the Child Sex Abuse prosecution team of the Office of the Office of the District Attorney General and investigated by Criminal Investigator Randal Slayton, also with the DA’s office.
