Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter has shared an update on his Facebook page from the wife of the THP Trooper who was shot during a traffic stop in Cookeville on July 19, 2024.
Trooper Adam Cothron’s wife, Gena, said the bullet was removed from the back of his neck last week. Adam said it feels better and Gena said the wound is healing up nicely. The bullet never hit Adam’s spinal cord and his “paralysis is caused from the hot bullet burning nerves and the surrounding impact of the bullet itself.” They are hopeful that he may regain more mobility eventually because the cord was not directly hit.
Gena said, “I know without a doubt that God has his hands on Adam and we are taking these blessings each day.”
Trooper Cothron is still receiving treatment at a specialized rehab facility in Atlanta.
