Livingston Schools Put on Soft Lockdown Monday

Schools inside the Livingston city limits were placed on soft lockdown Monday, August 12, 2024 after the Police Department received a threat of mass violence from an anonymous caller utilizing a restricted phone number.

The caller, who is believed to be male, stated that he was going to shoot everyone in McDonalds and that he was sitting in a black SUV at the intersection of Martin Street and West Main Street.

Several officers responded to McDonalds and the surrounding area. Officers did not make contact with anyone in the area believed  be the anonymous caller. The case is still under investigation.

In a press release, the Livingston Police Department said it is taking this threat seriously and is working with the Department of Homeland Security to identify the caller.

The Livingston Police Department would like to thank the Overton County Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Department of Homeland Security for the quick response and assistance in this matter.
