A Tennessee Department of Transportation contract worker was hit Friday night in Nashville while picking up litter on I-65. It happened when a 27-year-old woman pulled her Hyundai off onto the shoulder due to mechanical issues. She reportedly struck 48-year-old Raymon Cruz-Sanchez, pinning him between his work trailer and her sedan. He was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital in critical condition.
Last week, TDOT reported that state trucks have been hit 73 time so far this year. They say drivers are not slowing down and moving over for workers and emergency vehicles as required by law.
