A Sparta man faces numerous charges after he allegedly fled from an attempted traffic stop on Highway 70 West and Old State Road on Friday night (8/16/2024).

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office reports that while fleeing, 46-year-old Nathan Wayne Selby drove his truck into a driveway on Old State Road and went through the grass and struck a building, causing serious damage to the building.  Police say Selby continued to flee and spike strips were set up on Rogers Road. The chase came to an end almost at Browntown when Selby stopped, gave up and exited the vehicle.  Mr. Selby reportedly stated that he ran because he had felony warrants in White County, Tennessee. Dispatch did confirm that he had active warrants.

Selby was placed into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center for evading arrest, suspended license, vandalism and leaving the scene of an accident.  Selby was also issued a citation for speeding 70 in a 55 mph zone.

Bond was set at $13,000 and Mr. Selby has a General Sessions court date of September 9, 2024.
