White County Middle School Dismissed Early Tuesday Morning Due to Potential Bomb Threat

White County Middle School was placed on lockout, evacuated and dismissed early Tuesday morning (8/20/2024) due to a potential bomb threat.

The first notice went out around 8:20am that the Middle School was on soft lockout and no visitors were allowed as law enforcement conducted a sweep of the campus. White County High School was also placed on soft lockout.

At 8:31am White County Schools said authorities had detained a student and the Middle School was safe.

By 8:39 am the White County High School had been release from lockout and normal school activities were allowed to resume there.

At 9am White County Middle School was evacuated and then the decision was made to dismiss the Middle School at 10:15am due to the length of time that law enforcement needed to follow their protocols.

The school system said that all students remained safe during the lockout and sweep of the campus.
