Putnam County Register of Deeds John Sanders has issued a scam alert for the citizens of Putnam County.
According to Sanders, property owners in the area have been receiving an “official looking” letter that states the company can provide property owners with a copy of their recorded deed and a property profile for a considerable price.
If you receive such a letter disregard. This is a scam.
Putnam County property owners can get a copy of their deed or anything pertaining to their property at the Courthouse at no cost.
Sanders says the Register of Deeds Office also offers a property fraud alert notification website for FREE at www.mylandalert.com. After signing up with www.mylandalert.com, if any document that is recorded in the Register of Deeds Office matches your name or your business name, you will be notified at the email address you provided.
