On Monday (10/7/24), the state Department of Health confirmed 15 weather-related deaths in Tennessee. That brings the death toll to 7 in Unicoi County, 3 in Washington County, 2 in Cocke County, and 1 each in Greene, Knox County and Johnson counties.
As of Monday, the TBI said they are actively looking for 9 missing people, which includes 5 reported missing in Greene County, 3 in Unicoi County and 1 in Cocke County. TBI says these numbers do not represent the total of unaccounted individuals.
In Monday’s update, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency reported that FEMA is processing more than 4,100 registrations and has approved more than $1.3 million in funding to survivors, including more than $996,000 in housing assistance.
