An Arizona man arrested in Cumberland County for Reckless Driving and Evading Arrest told police he was “trying to catch the sunrise in Gatlinburg.” According to the Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Phani Raavi, of Phoenix, was observed driving a Ford Mustang at a high rate of speed on I-40 early Sunday morning (10/20/2024). The Mustang was reportedly traveling eastbound at 134 miles per hour. The Deputy activated his emergency lights and sirens and the suspect reportedly traveled about 6 miles before stopping near the 313 mile marker. Mr. Raavi was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center. His vehicle was a rental and was towed from the scene.
