The Kim Caldwell era is underway in Knoxville as the Tennessee Lady Volunteers opened up the season Tuesday night against the Bulldogs of Samford. The Lady Vols were able to pull away in the 2nd quarter outscoring Samford 23-9, leading to a 101-53 victory.
The leading scorer for Tennessee came from the bench with Zee Spearman scoring 25 points. Talayisa Cooper and Jewel Spear followed in the scoring totals with 19 and 18 respectively. Rounding out the top scorers were Samara Spencer and Ruby Whitehorn with 12 and 10 points respectively. Samford’s leading scorer also came off the bench with Alonya Waldon putting up 3 points.
Next up for the Lady Vols is a Thursday night game as The Lady Vols welcome UT Martin to Rocky Top. Tip off is set for 5:30 PM
