A Virginia man has been arrested and charged after authorities in Cumberland County caught him with fake CIA badges.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old Steven Clement Bader was pulled over on Highway 70 East in Crab Orchard for a side break light not working. The driver was identified as Steven Bader from Georgia, however the report lists him from Virginia.
The deputy detected the odor of alcohol from Mr. Bader and/or his vehicle. Bader reportedly said he could not drink because he was on active duty but could not say which branch he works for. He later stated he could not say where he worked or what he does but then stated he works with the CIA. During a consent search of the vehicle 3 CIA badges were located in a gun case in the back seat. The 3 badges were later confirmed to be fake.
Mr. Bader was placed under arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Jail for booking. He has been charged with Criminal Impersonation and his General Sessions court date has been scheduled for December 2, 2024. His bond was set at $1,000.
