School Teacher Charged in High School Incident

CROSSVILLE, TN – On Thursday, November 14, 2024 at approximately 8:00 AM the parent of a Stone Memorial High School student reported to the School Resource Officer that a teacher had threatened students in a classroom the day prior. The School Resource Officer made contact with City of Crossville Police Department investigators, who responded and began an investigation.

Investigation revealed that the teacher, James Green 56 of Cookeville, TN, had made threats towards students and was subsequently arrested without incident and charged with reckless endangerment, a Class E Felony in Tennessee. There were approximately 14 students in the classroom when the incident occurred, no injuries were reported. The Cumberland County School Board has taken action to ensure that Green be suspended from work and that he was barred from entering all school system property.

The school system will continue to work with local law enforcement to provide safe schools in Cumberland County.
