The most recent session of the Tennessee General Assembly saw several new laws passed, many of which will go into effect at the stroke of midnight on January 1st, 2025.
The General Assembly passed legislation that will require persons serving alcohol to undergo at least three and a half hours of training in alcohol awareness.
State Senator Paul Bailey of Sparta sponsored a bill that takes effect on January 1st that will allow law enforcement and firefighters to be eligible for hazardous duty retirement benefits. The benefit would be given when the employee retires or when they turn 60, as long as they have 20 years of service and retirement is not due to a disability.
