TBI agents are investigating the circumstances leading to a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred just after midnight Tuesday in Hamilton County.
According to a press release, preliminary information indicates that deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop of a motorcycle driver at 7326 McCutcheon Road. From early reports from the scene, during contact with deputies, the driver produced what appeared to be a weapon. For reasons that remain under investigation, deputies fired their service weapons, striking the man. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His identity is being withheld at this time pending notification of relatives. No officers were injured during the incident.
