Seventh Judicial District Attorney General Dave Clark has released information regarding last week’s officer-involved shooting in Anderson County.

According to a press release, on the evening of December 26, 2024, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office initiated a vehicle pursuit after determining that 27-year-old Dylan Phillips was armed. During the pursuit, officers from other agencies joined to assist and the pursuit progressed on I-75 Southbound. The pursuit crossed into Anderson County and was joined by an Anderson County Deputy Sheriff.

Phillips reportedly pulled over on the I-75 Southbound lanes near mile marker 127 and pointed a weapon at law enforcement, and at that time, shots were fired by law enforcement. Phillips continued to flee Southbound on I-75. Approximately one mile later, he was forced off the roadway by an Anderson County Deputy and placed under arrest.

Phillips has multiple charges for Aggravated Assault for using his firearm against officers at the scene, and has been charged with assaulting an Anderson County Deputy by kicking them.

Phillips was struck multiple times by bullets fired by officers. He was transported to an area hospital via Life Star where he received medical treatment.

Upon discharge from the hospital, Dylan Phillips was placed under arrest and transported to the Anderson County Detention Facility where he was booked and processed. His bond was set at $850,000 and it is anticipated that his Arraignment will occur on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Additional charges will also be expected in Campbell County.
