Police have arrested a man accused of stealing a trailer from a church on Christmas Day. According to a press release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Roberts admitted to taking the trailer from Life Church on Washington Avenue in Cookeville. On January 3rd, Detective Everett was assisting Detective Harris with an investigation when he was able to identify a second stolen trailer that was reported stolen in Cookeville that Christopher Roberts was also responsible for. This led to the recovery of the second trailer. While investigating the scene, Detectives located a backpack with a Taurus 9mm firearm inside of it. It was later determined to be Roberts’ firearm. Authorities say Roberts is a convicted felon. Christopher Roberts has been charged with 2 counts of Felony Theft and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
